Amatuer Fight Team Rocks at the Blue Lake Casino on Saturday 1/30/10

Congratulations and thank you to our Amatuer Fight Team members Steve Dickey, Ricky Jackson and Jesse Tobar for the excellent representation of Shamrock MMA and Body Architecture at the Blue Lake Casino in Humboldt this weekend. It was a different venue for us, and we had some very challenging fights. Steve, heavy weight, won in the first two minutes by a rear naked choke. Excellent job Steve! After several last minute changes in opponents and recovering from a severe flu, Jesse fought a gallant two-round battle with a blue belt in jui jitsu, despite a nice guillotine and several take downs by Jesse, the fight ended in referee stoppage in favor of Jesse's opponent. Ricky relentlessly battled a very heavy 170-lb opponent until he unfortunately had to tap to a rear choke. All three fighters gave fantastic and brilliant fights and we are so pleased with how well we did. We had very skilled admirable opponents and we did our best. This was a great learning experience for us all. As Richard Bach once said: "That's what learning is, after all; not whether we lose the game, but how we lose and how we've changed because of it and what we take away from it that we never had before, to apply to other games. Losing, in a curious way, is winning."

We are so proud to have all of our fighters representing our school. And, we hope everyone will come out later this month to the Civic Auditorium in San Jose, for the StrikeForce Challenger's Series to see our guys go again and represent us in our home town! Remember, Lori is taking pre-sale ticket orders now. Tickets will be available at the school this week. Hurry! Tickets are expected to sell out very quickly as the venue is smaller.
